Choose the reference you are observing
If you use your own photo, connect it to the physical sample ID and state the viewing conditions. The image is held locally in the browser; it is not uploaded to a server or attached automatically to your enquiry. If you use the geometric illustration, keep it labelled as an illustration. It shows visual rhythm rather than an actual weave, a measured repeat or a available article.
Change screen zoom for an observation task
Zoom can help you inspect the visible diagonal changes or compare a wider field. It changes how the image is displayed on your device. It cannot establish physical one-to-one size because image dimensions, device settings and screen scaling vary. Keep the observation in words: pattern visible close up, quieter across a larger field, or needing another photograph. Do not report screen pixels as fabric millimetres.
Record manual dimensions with evidence
Repeat values are manual buyer entries. Write the units, physical sample ID, ruler location and measurement method beside them. If you have no ruler or physical measurement, leave the values blank. Even an entered measurement remains a buyer record until its basis is checked. The tool does not infer dimensions from the uploaded image, recognise a weave or confirm an article's repeat.
Compare conditions rather than attractive crops
Use the same sample face and direction for close and larger photographs. Record light, camera position and any change of angle that could alter the appearance. If the images are from different references, do not combine their features into one article description. Keep the two sample identities separate and request matching views before making a final appearance decision.
Export the question for your garment
Add the garment area where this observation matters, such as a coat front or pocket. The record can be included with the English sample enquiry, together with your request for a physical sample. Use copy, download or print to retain it. Ask the textile team to confirm article identity, measured repeat and availability before the appearance preference becomes a production requirement.
Your decision and record
| Check | Decide | Keep with the reference |
|---|---|---|
| Image identity | Use a photo of an identified physical sample or a labelled illustration. | ID, source, face and viewing conditions. |
| Dimension | Enter measured millimetres only when you have a record. | Ruler position, units, method and confirmation status. |
| Zoom | Describe appearance at the selected screen view. | Observation words, without a physical-scale claim. |
| Garment | Connect the observation to the panel or detail to test. | End use and the next sample question. |
Questions for this step
Can this tool show physical 1:1 size?
No. Screen zoom is an observation aid. Device settings and image scaling differ, so a displayed image size is not a physical fabric dimension.
What happens if I enter a repeat without measurement evidence?
The export keeps it as a buyer-entered dimension, not an independently verified value. Add the measurement basis or leave the dimension open for confirmation.
Does choosing a photo upload it?
The board uses a local browser image for viewing. It does not upload the photo or add it to a message. You attach it separately in your own email or messaging app.
